In 2020 Cheshire Archives and Local Studies asked residents of Cheshire to contribute images of their lockdown experiences during the COVID-19 pandemic, as part of “Life in Lockdown: Your Stories Shared”. This image is one of thirty selected to represent the collection on the Cheshire Image Bank.

The Groves is a riverside walkway situated on the banks of the River Dee in Chester. It is an example of an early Victorian promenade, and includes a bandstand, cafés, restaurants and public houses, as well as moorings for motorboats, rowing boats and pedalos.
